Cokesbury Plans to Offer an Expanded Curriculum Lineup for Fall 2009

Starting this fall, Cokesbury will offer an expanded variety of Sunday school and small group curriculum choices from other Christian publishers, in addition to their own products, announced Neil Alexander, President and Publisher. “Cokesbury is continuing to provide an array of product options and services to more churches, more denominations, and more partners. We want to make it easier for our customers when they are considering curriculum resources for their faith formation classes and small groups by making more products available,” Alexander said.

Cokesbury’s curriculum for children includes Rock Solid, One Room Sunday School, Live B.I.G., Rock-a-Bye, and PowerXpress. Youth curriculum includes Bible Lessons for Youth, LinC, Claim the Life, and eMerge, and for adults Adult Bible Studies, Disciple, and a multitude of small-group resources. The children’s curriculum offering is now being expanded to include: Hands-On Bible Curriculum and FaithWeaver from Group Publishing, HeartShaper from Standard Publishing, and David C. Cook’s Bible-in-Life curriculum.

Cokesbury continues to offer Companions in Christ for adults and youth from Upper Room Books, Living the Good News from Church Publishing, Seasons of the Spirit from Wood Lake Books, the Kerygma series for adults from The Kerygma Program, and Urban Ministries from Urban Ministries, Inc.

The new resources will be available in July through all Cokesbury outlets, including Cokesbury.com, with major in-store promotions in August, including the Cokesbury Christian Education Showcase, August 10 through August 22.

Cokesbury’s Curric-U-Phone, at 800-251-8591, has trained curriculum consultants available to assist customers Monday through Friday, from 8 to 4 Central Standard Time, and e-mail inquiries can be made to curricuphone@cokesbury.com. There are also free downloadable webinars on selected curriculum available at webinars.cokesbury.com.

In the past Cokesbury has offered curriculum from other publishers by special order only, though for many years they have carried Vacation Bible School resources from other publishers.

Cokesbury is the retail and customer services arm of The United Methodist Publishing House, which serves more than 11 million church members worldwide, with books, Bibles, curriculum, worship resources, and church supplies. Cokesbury also serves as lead retail outlet for other major denominations, including the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In addition to Cokesbury.com, which offers more than 300,000 products to congregations, Cokesbury Christian stores are found in 65 retail locations throughout the United States.
